Supporting The Local Community

Like many of you, we have witnessed the challenges our neighbours in the Grampians region have faced due to the recent bushfires. Our hearts go out to the individuals affected & we stand in solidarity with this resilient community during their recovery.

We have been working closely with the local CFA, community members and other relevant authorities to ensure that the festival not only proceeds safely but also aligns with the wishes of those who call this region home.

The overwhelming response has been a resounding endorsement for Pitch to remain at our home in Moyston—not only for the vital economic uplift it provides to the region but also for the positive impact it has on the spirit of the community.

This year we’ll be amplifying our support & giving back to the valued community who has welcomed us over the past 7 years.

This will include direct donations to recovery initiatives Blaze Aid and Need For Feed, as well as the CFA. We will also contribute $1 for every item sold at the community BBQ towards these organisations. We encourage all of you to purchase from the Community BBQ during your time at Pitch.

This year, we are dedicated to creating employment opportunities for the local community. If you are a resident of the Grampians region and are interested in paid work at Pitch, please apply for a staff role via this link.

Event Safety & Bushfires

As for our approaching eighth edition, the recent fires in the area have reduced the fuel load in the area, which minimises the risk of further fires in the near future. We will, of course, continue to liaise closely with all relevant parties as the event approaches.

In response to last year's unprecedented conditions, we’ve engaged a bushfire behavioural specialist. Their insights and recommendations have informed part of our new fire management plan. These plans have been carefully reviewed by relevant stakeholders.

The Pitch Site

The recent fires have had some impact on the festival site, with the trees along the fenceline affected and some other areas around the site. However, recent rainfall has also left parts of the site looking lush and green. Efforts are already underway to rejuvenate the grounds to ensure the site is fully prepared. We look forward to sharing updates with you as we begin to build Pitch.

Reduced Fuel Load

Fuel load refers to dry grass, twigs and branches that can start and spread fires easily. As this fuel load has been burned away, there is a reduced chance of fires catching and spreading again.
